Murray Library, Anstruther

FIFE-murray

These wonderful serif letterforms are found on the Murray Library in Anstruther, Fife. Cut in relief into the dark red sandstone, they sit within moulded frames above the windows and entrance of the ground floor. The Library (built in 1908) was donated by David Murray (1830-1907) who made his fortune in Australia and is buried in Anstruther.
