Woman and Child: Davis & Sons, Lancaster

This is the first example of a cabinet card that I’ve found from Lancaster, UK (where I live). It’s one of a small haul that I recently came cross and I’ll be posting them all over the next few weeks. If anyone recognises somebody from these examples I’d be really interested to hear more. For a great online collection of CDVs from Lancaster and Morecambe, check out this site: https://uk.pinterest.com/johnnybean/lancaster-morecambe-cdv-s/

I don’t yet know much about this photographic company, but here is a trade bill from them of March, 1889, showing the extensive services they provided.

    1. Dear Imogen – my sincere apologies for the failure to reply to your comment. I’ve had some problems with the blog and just failed to see it until now. Wonderful to hear about your connection with Davis and to hear about where he lived. I’d like, when time allows, to do a study of Victorian and Edwardian photographers in Lancaste. Best wishes. Simon.
